Blokus
(2-4 players; 20 minutes; ages 5+)
Blokus is a colourful board game with lots of fun strategy. I like Blokus Duo even more, but that’s only for two players.
As well as playing the game, the Blokus board and pieces can be used to allow students to copy one another – creating patterns that have mirror symmetry or rotational symmetry.
However, pieces will get lost which ruins the game so Blokus is not recommended for classroom use except in schools that can accept attrition.
There is geometry in the humming of the strings, there is music in the spacing of the spheres.
